In today's world, Gender identity clinic is a topic of constant interest and debate. Since its emergence, it has captured the attention of millions of people and has influenced numerous discussions and decisions in various areas. Its importance has transcended borders and has generated a significant impact on society, the economy and culture. The clinic opened in 1975 for adults only.[5] From 1987 onwards, a practice dedicated to adolescents opened in Utrecht.[6]:301 The children's clinic merged with the adult clinic in 2002, moving to Amsterdam.[6]:301-302;[Notes 1]
Adult practice already established when an endocrinological clinic for adolescents opened on April 1, 2024 (diagnosis and psychological support is offered by UMCG partners).[10]
