Hello Leeuw, I usually work on french wikipedia. I have seen that you did a lot of changes on the article Livonian campaign against Rus'. I am working on the french page. Hello Resikas, I was sent this chapter by another Wikipedian. If you send me an email, I could forward it to you. As long as you only use it privately for Wikipedia, it should be fine. It is quite an important scholarly contribution to studies of this period, and I couldn't have corrected a lot of misconceptions and refuted ideas from previous eras without it. Regarding Olga of Kiev: It seems that when I translate the whole title (Святая великая княгиня Ольга), княгиня appears as "duchess" which is why I had made the mistake (and I apologize for doing so). @Kaasterly You're welcome, thank you for letting me know! I expect this list to require semi-regular maintenance, because the claimed progress can and should be checked every few months. Usually the start-ups fall somewhat short of their projected timelines, but most of them do succeed in achieving their milestones eventually. Because this is still a relatively new and developing industry, those milestones are important, but once it becomes more established and even mainstream, it might no longer be relevant to keep track of. Godzijdank heeft eindelijk iemand met wat meer academisch-historisch inzicht, jij dus, naar het artikel Tsarist autocracy gekeken! Bedankt voor dat sjabloon over synthesis en original research. Om een of andere reden stuit ik eens in de zoveel tijd weer op dat artikel of op die persoon die dat artikel heeft aangemaakt en vervolgens door willekeurige boekjes te googlen het bestaan ervan rechtvaardigt. Boeken die hij duidelijk niet eens kent. Er is niet echt een academisch debat gaande over 'tsaristische' autocratie als zodanig. Al die google hits zijn vaak stilistische keuzes van auteurs zonder een expliciet conceptuele betekenis en meer dan eens zijn de aangehaalde auteurs niet bepaald leidend - los van het feit dat veel van de (negatieve) invulling van het begrip 'samoderzhavie' (wat dus vaak wordt vertaald als 'autocracy', maar in oudere diplomatieke bronnen eerder met de letterlijke betekenis 'zelfhouder', in Nederlandse handschriften vaak iets als 'selffs erholder', Duits 'Selbsterhalter') uit de hoek van de socialistische/Sovjet-critici kwam. Hun kritiek zou je misschien kunnen delen vanaf Nicolaas I, die bewust een zeer verheven invulling aan samoderzhavie gaf, maar dat alle connotaties van samoderzhavie met ongebreidelde macht ook van toepassing zijn voor de gehele periode 'vanaf Ivan III' (zoals er nu in het artikel staat), lijkt me sterk.

Wat er nu in het artikel staat is dus niet zonder meer WP:NOTE: de notie dat er een aparte, 'tsaristische' autocratie bestond is door de oorspronkelijke WP-gebruiker zelfbedacht en nergens op gebaseerd. Je zou hooguit kunnen zeggen dat het begrip samoderzhavie vanaf de negentiende eeuw juridisch wat meer ingevuld werd als een 'autocratie' (dus in de huidige politicologische zin van het woord en daarmee niet zo heel anders dan andere 'autocratieën'), maar eerlijk gezegd betekende dat in de praktijk veel minder dan je zou denken.

Bedankt voor je positieve feedback, dat waardeer ik zeker! Dit hele artikel is inderdaad nogal een klassiek geval van een bij elkaar geharkt zooitje dat niet aan de redactionele normen van English Wikipedia voldoet. Willen we er nog echt iets van maken, dan is er veel inzet voor nodig. Verwijderen lijkt mij in dit geval niet zo'n goeie optie, wel hernoemen tot gewoon Tsarism en dat heel sterk laten definiëren door gezaghebbende bronnen ipv dit soort drive-by passing mentions die geheel uit de context gerukt zijn. Zelfs al is Tsarism geen eenduidig gedefinieerd concept (net zoals Stalinism, Putinism, Leninism etc. dat niet zijn) is het wel een stuk overzichtelijker om te definiëren en om zogenaamde "synoniemen" uit te sluiten. Als we ook nog eens "autocracy" moeten definiëren en bepalen of dat nou hetzelfde is in combinatie met Tsarism of uniek ("ja maar...", "nee want.." "blablabla..."), halen we ons echt onnodig veel semantische problemen op te hals, laat staan wat voor problemen we dan met bronvermelding krijgen. Zal ik alvast een aanzet doen? Geen dank! Fijn om eens een goed gesprek te kunnen voeren met een ervaren Wikipedia-gebruiker. Van mij zou je zeker mogen beginnen met het aanpassen van dit artikel. Ik kan me voorstellen dat de oorspronkelijke auteur zich wel weer zal roeren.. en ik heb een tijd geleden nog voorgesteld om er iets in de trant van Monarchy in Russia te maken, zoals Monarchy in the United Kingdom (ook al is die in Rusland verdwenen natuurlijk). Dan kun je nóg makkelijker allerlei verschillende veranderingen en richtingen door de eeuwen in kaart brengen. Momenteel is Russian monarchy een redirect naar een lijst van monarchen met wat korte opmerkingen per periode.
